Meet Dr Jean-Christophe MONBALIU from CiTOS-ULiège, at our online Master Session #4 (the last one!), on 29 October 2020 from 10AM

Jean-Christophe M. MONBALIU is currently Associate Professor at the University of Liège and serves as Associate Editor on the Journal of Flow Chemistry. He heads the Centre for Integrated Technology and Organic Synthesis (CiTOS), the first European Corning® Advanced-Flow™ reactor qualified lab.
His research interests revolve around synthetic organic chemistry but are multidisciplinary in essence.
They aim at
(a) designing cheaper and more efficient routes for the preparation of high value-added chemicals such as active pharmaceutical ingredients,
(b) accelerating the transition from petro-based to bio-based strategies and
(c) developing efficient processes with a lower environmental impact.

Topic Title
Continuous flow upgrading of bio-based platforms

Abstract
Our latest efforts concerning the design of scalable continuous flow strategies for the upgrading of bio-based platform molecules toward active pharmaceutical ingredients and fine chemicals will be presented. We will mostly discuss the upgrading of glycerol and bio-based alcohols through deoxydehydration and hydrochlorination/dechlorination sequences.

Each Master Session will take up to 2 hours from 10 AM till noon and will be themed according to the following specific subjects:
Session #1New (bio)resources – 10 September 2020
Session #2New (bio)products – 24 September 2020
Session #3: New technologies > industrial micro bio network – 8 October 2020
Session #4: New technologies > enzymatic and extraction technologies – 29 October 2020
